What's New

We ship improvements every few days. This page captures what's changed. Your feedback drives what we build next.

Improved

Everything waiting on you is on your dashboard

Call-outs, flagged shifts, time-off requests and swaps now appear on the dashboard itself, with the buttons to deal with them. The separate Needs Attention page is gone, so you no longer have to go looking for the list to act on it.

Improved

The menu is ordered by what you actually use

Things you check daily are at the top, requests waiting on you next, and setup screens you rarely revisit at the bottom.

New

Task steps can ask for a number or a note

A step can now ask for a temperature, a count, or a short written note, on their own or alongside a yes/no answer and a photo. Whatever someone records, you can read back on the task afterwards.

Improved

A task can be for more than one job role

Set a recurring job to "a cook or a shift lead" instead of picking one role or naming people individually, which went stale every time someone joined or left.

New

Download your own data

Anyone can download a copy of everything Vantij holds about them, from Settings. Managers can still export the whole workspace separately.

New

A new look for the Vantij icon

Fresh app icons across the board, including the tile you get when you install Vantij on your phone.

Fixed

Scheduling settings no longer reset themselves

Some settings showed a value nobody had chosen, and saving would quietly apply it. Unset settings now say plainly what happens when you leave them alone, and your changes stay put when you move between tabs.

New

Employees can see the rules that apply to them

Staff can now read the scheduling rules their manager has set (maximum hours, days in a row, notice periods) instead of guessing why the schedule came out the way it did.

New

Open shifts anyone can pick up

When someone calls out, offer their shift to the whole team in one tap. The first eligible person to claim it gets it.

New

Print or share the week

Print a clean copy of the schedule for the wall, or share a link with the team that you can switch off whenever you like.

New

Export the schedule

Download the week as a spreadsheet, or give each person a calendar file that drops their shifts straight into their phone calendar.

New

See what a week will cost

An estimate of the week's wage bill, based on rates only you can see. It is a calculator to help you plan, and Vantij never touches payroll.

New

Recurring jobs, shared out fairly

Set up jobs that repeat, like closing the kitchen or checking the fryers, and Vantij hands each one to someone already working that day, rotating fairly over time. It never adds a shift to make a job fit.

New

Photo proof on a task step

A step can ask for a photo before it can be ticked off. Photos are kept for 30 days and then deleted.

New

Prep time before you open

Tell Vantij how long before opening and after closing you need people on site, and it will schedule the prep and clean-down shifts around your trading hours.

New

Who is strongest at what

Rate how confident each person is in each role, and Vantij spreads experience across the week instead of stacking every new starter on the same shift.

New

Stand-in employees

Add someone to the schedule before they have an account, like a new hire starting Monday or a regular casual. Convert them to a real account with an invite when you are ready, and their shifts come with them.

Fixed

Times are right wherever you are

Shift times, availability and time-off dates now all follow your workspace clock, so a business outside UTC no longer sees a shift land on the wrong day.

New

Choose which notifications you get

Turn notification types on or off individually. A few that matter, like a shift being cancelled, always come through.

New

Notifications on your phone

Get a push notification when a schedule is published, a request is answered, or a shift changes.

New

Install Vantij on your phone

Add Vantij to your home screen and it opens like a normal app, full screen, no browser bar.

Improved

Coverage tells you what is still uncovered

Coverage now shows exactly which hours on which days have nobody scheduled, instead of only saying whether you had set it up.

Improved

Setting your availability takes seconds

Pick from common patterns like mornings, evenings or weekends instead of filling in a grid hour by hour.

Improved

A dashboard worth landing on

Once a schedule exists, the dashboard shows the week at a glance: who is working today, who is on right now, and what is coming next.

New

A guided tour on your first visit

New managers get a walkthrough of the real screens: hours, roles, coverage, inviting the team, generating a schedule. Skippable at any point, and replayable from Settings.

New

In-app feedback widget

Share bugs, feature ideas, or UX feedback directly from inside the app, every page, every role. We read every submission.

Improved

Onboarding completion screens

Managers now see a clear 3-step next-action list after setup. Employees see a plain-English explanation of what happens after they submit availability.

New

Welcome email for new managers

New workspace owners receive a getting-started email with the three setup steps and direct links to invite the team and generate a schedule.

Improved

Beta health dashboard (admin)

Admin overview now shows onboarding progress rate, schedules generated, schedules published, pending requests, and recent feedback count.

New

Interactive demo workspace

Visitors can now try Vantij without signing up. The /demo page shows a live schedule generation animation for a sample café workspace.

Improved

First-use availability hint

Employees with an empty availability grid now see a contextual prompt explaining how to fill it in before saving.

Improved

Schedule generation error tracking

Failed schedule generations are now captured in analytics and the generate page recovers gracefully back to the configure step.

New

Beta indicator and support access

A beta badge appears in the sidebar. A Help & Contact link is now always one click away from inside the app.

New

Typed analytics instrumentation

All key user flows (onboarding, schedule generation, publish, time-off, swaps, billing) now emit typed PostHog events for drop-off analysis.

Fixed

Billing webhook guard

Fixed a rare crash where a Stripe webhook could attempt to update a workspace that no longer existed, causing an unhandled error.

Improved

Shift status transition machine

Shifts now enforce legal state transitions. A completed or cancelled shift cannot be accidentally moved back to draft.

Beta

Vantij enters closed beta

Real-world beta access opens to the first cohort of small business managers. All core scheduling flows are live: generate, publish, time-off, swaps.
